SEE MALAYA SOL LIVE

The Malaya Sol Quintet

Jan 13 | Live at The Django at The Roxy, NYC

Malaya Sol is an independent Filipino artist based in New York City.

—Ardent vocalist Malaya Sol feels at-home in Brooklyn after a decade of musical journeys originating from the Zambales region of the Philippines, where she was born. Through performing a myriad of music richly influenced by traveling as a soloist and a member of various musical groups, she organically developed into World Music, Jazz and Soul. One experiencing her music may conclude as Allen Foster described in his review on AXS.com, "...an incredible excursion that traveled both around the globe and through time...Her tone is a divine gossamer spun from opulent gold fibers, and her intimate style of delivery is utterly captivating."

“Filipinas“

Malaya Sol’s single, Filipinas, is an arrangement enriched by the remarkable guitar stylings of Vinicius Gomes, —featuring Itai Kriss on the flute, Victor Pablo on percussions, Xavi Morato and Courtney Pinski on strings, altogether bringing a lush, cinematic texture to this classic Trio Los Panchos number.

From the Vault:

I finally released Smoke Rings from the vault—a song I recorded back in 2015 with the incredible guitarist Idan Morim. It’s been sitting quietly all these years, but something about it still feels raw and real to me. Just voice and guitar, nothing fancy—just the two of us capturing a moment. Idan’s playing is so warm and intuitive, and the song drifts somewhere between jazz and folk, with all the space and intimacy I love. I’m excited (and a little nervous) to finally share it with you.
